Volunteering Trip – Day 6

Oct 7, 2019

It's 7:30 and the alarm has already gone off. Ali's tireless blender is already at work and big dark clouds are covering the beautiful sun that has been shining on me for 7 days now.
Today there are many children, but there is a great desire to return to the engaging laughter of children.
Once we get on the minibus we head towards Sogeani.
Our organization seems impeccable, but Africa is unpredictable and gives us a nice cold rain, which soaks the courtyard of the'asylum.
Our games take place in the classrooms and with the delivery of the booklets and the much sought-after biscuits we are ready to start the routine again in the nearby nursery school of Mtende.
To welcome us, under the portico, the children were already excited and with smiles on their faces.
The teachers organize some final games and I allow myself the luxury of sitting on the wall with the children, who in the meantime sing songs that would be the envy of the best fan bases.
The time has come to leave this nursery too. With the usual bitter taste in your mouth, you say goodbye to those children who somehow made room in your heart, with the knowledge that you will do anything to return to savor their smiles.
Francesco.
